Australian flag hanging STORYLINE: Australian fans did not celebrate their team’s win against Turkey quietly after a 2-0 victory on Saturday night. Many celebrated on Granville Street in downtown Vancouver where lines stretched from one bar to the next. Several bars reached capacity, but fans of the Socceroos were content waiting, chanting and tossing inflatable kangaroos to pass the time. Fans say they have high hopes for the Socceroos. "Australia’s been chipping away for years, so hopefully this is going to be the year,” said one fan. Australia was playing in its sixth straight World Cup and seventh overall. Turkey maintained 72% of possession during the match and outshot the Socceroos 30-9, but couldn't manage to score.
