The T-44 was a Soviet medium tank, developed in late World War II (1944) as a comprehensive upgrade to the famous T-34. Although approximately 2,000 were produced, it saw little direct combat, primarily serving as an important design precursor for the later T-54/55 main battle tanks thanks to its low hull and horizontally mounted engine. The T-44-100 was a Soviet experimental medium tank, developed in 1945 based on the T-44 platform, equipped with a 100mm cannon and additional side armor protection.
