Building Community in Mansfield

Creating connection, confidence and community in Mansfield. The Old Eight Bells – a property transformed by our Resonance Supported Homes Fund and handed over to housing partner, United Response – is not only providing homes and support for people with learning disabilities and autism, but through its vibrant community spaces and regional hub, is also providing inclusive activities, connections and support services to the wider community. Paul and Kelly both live nearby, and for them, The Old Eight Bells has become a welcoming space where they can make friends, take part in activities including a podcast and choir and gain confidence. “It’s friendly. The staff are nice. The people are nice… we’re starting to make friends.” “Basically, it’s like a safe space.” By opening its doors to the local community as well as tenants, The Old Eight Bells demonstrates how supported housing can do more than provide homes – it can create opportunities for connection, reduce isolation and bring people together. Hear what Paul and Kelly have to say about what The Old Eight Bells means to them, in our short film.
