Hello! This is Dr. Kim's Wine Lab. In this video, we'll talk about the wines of the Côte de Beaune region. Centered around the city of Beaune, Côte de Beaune is a premier white wine region, where famous white wines such as Montrachet, Meursault, and Corton-Charlemagne are produced. There are 16 village-level appellations in the Côte de Beaune, but you only need to remember eight of the most important wine regions. From the top, Aloxe-Corton, down, they are: Beaune, Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Saintenay. By shortening these eight to Albon-for-Vol-Meupil-Chassang, you can easily remember the eight major wine regions and their locations in the Côte de Beaune. This video covers the characteristics and major producers of Aloxe-Corton, Corton-Charlemagne, Beaune, Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Santenay wines, as well as essential information on wine labels to remember.
