The sumter national forests has red squirrels fox squirrels as well as the eastern grey depending on which areas your hunting. The red squirrels are primarily in the pines while fox squirrels are mostly found in mixed pine/hardwood forest and the grey is primarily a hardwoods squirrel. This was a late season hunt following 2 days of rain and winds. I was shooting cci 40grain tmj rimfire ammo in my Henry h001m classic lever action .22wmr. The gun is topped with a leupold vx freedom 2-7x33 rimfire scope, and shoots extremly well. I also always carry a primos squirrel buster bark call with me on squirrel hunts, it's a very effective call for locating distant squirrels.
