Gaming Discourse Has Always Been Crappy (We Wish It Wasn't) @MugenLord

Link to MugenLord's video:    • Gaming Discourse Has Become Exhausting   So MugenLord has a very interesting topic regarding online gaming discourse, with many different opinions about how troubling it can, just be to have a civil discussion on any modern video game. From biased journalism to player-run hate campaigns, it seems like no one can just talk about any modern video game without having to deal with all the noise. It was such a good topic that everyone needs to be discussing more, so we decided that this video deserved a response to keep the conversation going. Personally speaking (Mikedot here): Gaming discussion has been polarizing for a long time. Even before the "culture war" started, there was the "Console Wars" where people would form their gaming preferences simply based on what system the game was made for and on console exclusivity. You were then branded as an "Xbot", a "Sonypony" or a "Nintendrone". And after that, it changed to "Consoles vs PC" where PC gaming elitists' would brand themselves "PC Master Race" and Console players as "Peasants". And after that it was "Regular Gaming vs Mobile gaming", where people would mock and belittle you if you enjoyed - ANY - kind of game made for mobile devices, and even to this day: plenty of people say that mobile games aren't "real" games. Sad truth is that it's always been a challenge to discuss gaming out in the open. One could suggest that social media has made gaming discussions worse, and I would agree with that opinion. I truly wish there was a way to disconnect gaming discourse from the overall social media sphere, but those days are long gone.
