Mercedes C220 - 260.000 km - Zu gut, um wahr zu sein? | Redhead

Join Redhead Zylinderkopf- & Motorentechnik after our summer break as we take a look inside the engine of a Mercedes C220, OM 651.921 from 2016. The car has covered 258,000 km, is well serviced and cared for, and has just returned from a long motorway journey. What condition can we expect from a Mercedes-Benz and its smaller diesel, which was used under ideal conditions? Namely, the ability to cover long distances in one go. This is the favorite food for combustion engines and, at least for now, certainly the most unfavorable use case for an electric car. This is all the worse the colder it gets. Small electric cars occupy sensible niches in cities and for short distances. They will improve and establish themselves here if a power grid and economic viability can be created. But this also means that corporations should not only have profit in mind. They should be given political rules and limits and, above all, incentives for sound environmental policy. Here in Germany, we find it difficult to issue guidelines. We talk and talk and talk and get ourselves entangled in a forest of laws and rules from which we can no longer escape. In secret recognition, we are used to blatantly passing the blame onto others. Sad. Nobody says it's easy, but we are so exhaustingly fed up with this nonsense. We simply need doers, changemakers and implementers and, in certain cases, even a curbing of economic zeal when it is obviously at the expense of the entire population. I myself am not happy when I see how much the state skims off us small businesses with 19% VAT and then in every other area. And that's after levies on many institutions such as the miners' association, the chamber of crafts, BUV, liability insurance, building and business insurance, electricity, gas, oil, property tax, sewage, water supply, waste, hazardous substance disposal, garbage disposal, media disposal, UVV, gate inspections. Safety inspections, brake test bench inspections, light adjustment area inspections, etc. are all that's left. It's important to note that every two years, the 5x3 meter area is inspected and measured with a laser for 2.5 hours. There could be geographical faults in the hall, and all this for 500 euros! After maintenance of lifting platforms, compressor and lighting technology inspections, emissions testing, accounting, tax consulting, IT adjustments and financial software, data backup costs, testing of portable electrical devices, machinery, wages, employee training and occupational safety, renovations, and, of course, operational investments, what's left over is what the state collects: over 40% of the theoretically achievable profits! Almost half! It's not great when you see what happens to the money and how our Minister of Economic Affairs tries to avoid embarrassing questions just to avoid mentioning the term "company bankruptcies" under his policies, while H. Habeck doesn't even know the word "insolvency." Now even the last person realizes that he, too, is merely a satellite orbiting the essentials but incapable of seriously changing them. But that should be politicians. Energy giants are cashing in and even enticed by their poorly drafted laws! Barely aware of any guilt, they carry on merrily. The Greens are ashamed to even utter the word nuclear power. It's hardly about making sense, but rather about concerns about the breach of ideologies' promises and the violation of their green origins: "NO THANKS TO NUCLEAR POWER." The Greens, too, are apparently not as cosmopolitan as they claim. Incapable of shedding their old garments for the good of all! Just as gray as all the established parties! But it would be important for the traffic light coalition to follow up its big talk with actions. Global monopolists and egomaniacal economic strategists like the owner of a multinational corporation based in Austin, Texas, who don't care about people as individuals. They are constantly expanding their power, and politicians are supporting this. It's almost unbearable. We are now reaping the benefits of simply poor and short-sighted political leadership. More and more laws. Recently, it was said that two laws had to be abolished before a new one could be introduced. One laughingstock after another. Try expanding a parking lot as a company. It could fill a book! So I'll just leave it at that. Can our Mercedes, on the other hand, prove that it deserves its star (with fuel consumption well below 5-6 liters) as a reliable car? What about the engine, chassis, and its continued usability? We'll take a closer look and take stock. Greetings to the world Lars P.
