So as beautiful as Ometepe Island is, we can't afford to stay here for long. So we take at least some of the highlights of the volcanic island with us. First we go by kayak into a river mouth to see rare birds and finally Cayman Islands. Next we go to Playa Santa Domingo, where we treat ourselves to a little refreshment on the black volcanic beach. We spontaneously drive to Punta Jesus Maria, from where you can see both volcanoes that make this island so special. The next day we take the ferry to the mainland, which is an adventure in itself.
