Fix the Lenovo C540 Click of Death

I had two Lenovo C540s die within a week of each other just out of warranty. Both would just click faintly when you tried to power them on; I call it the click of death. But, I found the problem on one, and it was the same (and worse) on the other. Here's what I found and how you can fix it inexpensively. Alternately, if you are even modestly handy with a soldering iron, you can use a regular SATA data cable (right angle, 12"), and make a SATA power cable by cutting the power side of Lenovo's cable off (preserve a few inches of length beyond the motherboard-side J-series (?) connector) and solder it to a regular SATA power cable (cost about $3 on Amazon).
