Jesus Cleanses the Temple in John: Holy Zeal for His Father’s House | Bible Story

As the Jewish Passover approached, Jesus went up to Jerusalem and entered the temple courts. The place meant for prayer and worship was filled with people selling cattle, sheep, and doves, while money changers sat at their tables. Animal cries, bargaining voices, and clinking coins filled His Father’s house. Jesus made a whip from cords, drove the animals out, scattered the coins, and overturned the tables. Then He declared, “Stop making My Father’s house a marketplace.” This gentle Bible story follows the cleansing of the temple recorded in John 2. The anger of Jesus did not come from wounded pride.
