Don't expect to see small wooden chalets crowding the streets: here, stone dominates. The robust houses of the 17th century are made of blocks of schist or tuff linked by an earth-based mortar, the roofs, covered with slate or lauze. The “trabucs”, these old-fashioned alleys which weave a narrow network between the houses, will take you to the top of the village, towards the lovely Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption church. In Roman-Lombard style, it adjoins the chapel of the White Penitents and the cemetery where, under simple wooden crosses, the shipwrecked people of the mountain rest.
