La Grave - Région Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur - Stéphane Bern - Le Village Préféré des FrançaisMG

At an altitude of 1,450 meters, in the heart of the Ecrins massif, La Grave is a balcony opening onto the legendary summit of La Meije, the kingdom of off-piste skiers. To discover the wonders of the most beautiful regions of France, it's here - Subscribe 👉 http://bit.ly/3zjR2Vj 🙏 In the heart of the Ecrins massif, the village of La Grave has nestled its houses at the foot of a sunny slope of the mountain, at the foot of the legendary Meije summit culminating at 3,984 meters above sea level. Don't expect to see small wooden chalets crowding the streets: here, stone dominates. The robust houses of the 17th century are made of blocks of schist or tuff linked by an earth-based mortar, the roofs, covered with slate or lauze. The “trabucs”, these old-fashioned alleys which weave a narrow network between the houses, will take you to the top of the village, towards the lovely Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption church. In Roman-Lombard style, it adjoins the chapel of the White Penitents and the cemetery where, under simple wooden crosses, the shipwrecked people of the mountain rest. From there, the view of the Ecrins massif, over the Romanche, is a real treat. © MORGANE PRODUCTION
