The Sin Against the Holy Spirit and Pride Pride is one of the most serious sins because it leads human beings to believe they do not need God. A proud heart stops listening, obeying, and recognizing that all good comes from the Lord. It is no coincidence that humanity's first great sin was marked by pride. Adam and Eve yielded to the serpent's temptation when it suggested to them, "You will be like God" (Genesis 3:5). Instead of trusting in the Creator, they wanted to take His place, to decide for themselves what was good and what was evil. Pride opened the door to sin and broke communion with God. The Church teaches that the sin against the Holy Spirit consists of obstinately rejecting God's grace and mercy. Pride can lead to this sin when a person becomes so closed off that they no longer recognize their sin, do not ask for forgiveness, do not accept correction, and do not allow the Holy Spirit to transform their life. That is why we must be wary of pride. It may seem like a silent sin, but it is the root of many others. The proud person refuses to be taught, does not accept their mistakes, and ends up turning away from God because they believe they can live without Him. On the other hand, humility opens the heart to the action of the Holy Spirit. Those who acknowledge their fragility discover the immensity of God's mercy. The Lord never rejects a humble and repentant heart; He is always ready to forgive and lift up those who return to Him. Let us ask today for the grace of humility. May we never allow pride to harden our hearts, but rather live open to the voice of the Holy Spirit, always trusting in God's infinite mercy. Subscribe to this channel and share it with others.
