Devotion to the blue sky: Story of first-ever female pilot from China's Xizang for PLA

She is a Gen Z pilot and the first female pilot from the Xizang Autonomous Region recruited by the PLA Air Force. According to Gao Tianming, a PLA Air Force pilot, becoming a qualified fighter pilot is extremely challenging, and Kelsang Pedron has truly come a long way to reach this point.  "Whether in physical training or research on the techniques and tactics, she is extremely diligent. Ultimately, she has mastered the techniques more effectively than many others," Gao said. Kelsang Pedron was born in 2000 in Shannan city of Xizang Autonomous Region. In her senior year of high school, she enrolled in the pilot recruitment program and received the admission notice from Air Force Aviation University on July 7, 2019. Kelsang Pedron said that she had to learn a lot of scientific knowledge after entering flight school, and she might be barred from flying if she failed a few subjects. Therefore, she was stressed out at that time and studied harder. "I had undergone an entire selection process and procedures to get this far, and I was determined to excel and not to be eliminated, so I studied very hard," said Kelsang Pedron. Kelsang Pedron now is undergoing training in the army and has successfully completed a single test flight for a fighter aircraft, delivering excellent results in this stage of training.  "For me, flying started as a passion and evolved into a goal and an ideal. I should train hard to become a fighter pilot to protect the blue skies of our motherland," she said.
