Tiahuanaco - La Misteriosa Civilización Perdida de los Andes

The Tiahuanaco or Tiwanaku culture, located in the Bolivian Altiplano near Lake Titicaca, was one of the major pre-Columbian civilizations of the Andes. Emerging as small farming villages around 1500 BC, it evolved into a powerful empire with advanced agriculture, trade networks, and monumental architecture, such as the Akapana pyramid and the famous Sun Gate. Recognized for its religious significance, this culture declined around 1000 AD, possibly due to droughts and internal conflicts. However, its legacy persists in its cultural and architectural contributions. Today, the Tiwanaku archaeological site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. #history
