Dozens of hours of conversations with subject matter experts helped me refine the story and nail down plausible scenarios. Visually, my goal for this episode was to project the sheer scale of this operation, while the storytelling shows just how complex, risky and dangerous a contested crossing of the Taiwan Strait would be. But we do our best! The flagship of the PLA invasion task force, a Type 075 Yushen-class LHD, was not available to use, so I utilized HMS Hermes.
