1989 in MOVIES : Queen - " I Want it All ".
#queen #iwantitall #1989 Personally my favourite year in Movies. Lots of childhood favourites in 1989. The Top 3 big money earners of 1989 were : Batman Indiana Jones and the last Crusade. Lethal Weapon 2. I'm sure Back to the Future 2 would of made the top 3 had it not been released in November. As with the above three, there were a few more sequels released : Ghostbusters 2, Fletch Lives, The Karate kid 3, The Fly 2 and the usual horror suspects, Freddy, Jason and Michael Myers all came back from the dead to prey and some idiotic teenagers. There were also original movies that would spawn sequels in the future : Batman, Bill & Ted's excellent adventure, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Best of the Best , Look who's Talking, to name but a few. Two excellent baseball Films were released in Major League and Field of Dreams. Along with two movies about man's best friend in K9 and Turner and Hooch. Timothy Dalton played James Bond for the second and final time in Licence to Kill. Morgan Freeman's reputation rose up through the ranks with Driving Miss Daisy, Lean on Me and Glory, which the latter also brought Denzel Washington fame and fortune. Daniel Day Lewis also announced his arrival to the big time with My Left Foot. Also Nicole Kidman in Dead Calm. For Directors it was Spike Lee ( Do the right thing) and John Woo ( The Killer) who got noticed. Patrick Swayze was busy ( Roadhouse & Next of Kin). So too was John Candy ( Uncle Buck & Who's Harry Crumb?). The greatest Christmas movie ever was released with National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation ( Chevy Chase) and one of my all time favourite movies The Burbs starring Tom Hanks. Back in 1989 I was 12 years old. And as I mentioned in the above, this was my favourite year in Films. So instead of naming 5 of my favourites when I was 12yrs old, I'm gonna name 10 of my favourite movies when I was 12 years old. No particular order. 1. The Burbs. 2. Christmas Vacation. 3. Lethal Weapon 2. 4. Uncle Buck. 5. Back to the Future 2. 6. K9. 7. Look whos Talking. 8. Roadhouse. 9. Indiana jones and Last Crusade. 10. Major League. That would of being my list in 1989. This is my list in 2023. In no particular order. 1. The Burbs. 2. Christmas Vacation. 3. The Abyss. 4. Do the right Thing. 5. See no evil Hear no evil. 6. Field of Dreams. 7. Pow Wow Highway. 8. Lethal Weapon 2. 9. Black Rain. 10. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. #movies #films #moviescenes #movietribute #tribute
