Capsize! John Welsford Pathfinder 'Antares' test

I finally bit the bullet and performed a capsize test on my John Welsford Pathfinder 'Antares'. A calm morning in Port Philip Bay provided the perfect conditions for a first test, with friends from the Wooden Boat Association standing by in their boats. This is a reasonably long 'warts and all' video, but I did not want to edit out the difficulties we faced, to make it look better than it was. The point of the exercise was to see what worked and what didn't. Far better to discover this under controlled conditions, rather than in a real emergency. I am light weight, the Pathfinder is a reasonably large cruising dinghy, and lessons were learnt! I cannot recommend highly enough that you test your own boat, especially if sailing outside of the club racing environment where rescue boats are always close to hand. My local sailing waters can get down to sub 11°C (52°F) in Winter. Keeping this in mind, I aim to reduce recovery time to under 3 minutes in future, once improvements are carried out.
