The BRAND NEW Glasgow Subway Trains in Service.

On this day, I originally intended to do an onboard ride from Glasgow to Barrhead on a class 380 but, as soon as I found out about this, I immediately beelined for the Subway and was able to get a full run on their new rolling stock. These new trains are set to replace the ones that have operated on the Glasgow Subway since 1980. They have all the modern features that the outgoing trains didn't, such as full air-conditioning and walkthrough carriage gangways. Built by Stadler of Switzerland, first deliveries of these new trains commenced in May 2019 with overnight testing beginning in December 2021. On December 11, 2023, two of the 17 sets built were quietly introduced into service on the Outer Circle with more of the sets to be rolled out throughout next year.
