So… turns out the “portable party beast” JBL Boombox 4 isn’t always the life of the party. 😬 In this video, I test the Boombox 4 at different volumes and explain exactly when and why the terrible distortion shows up. If you were planning on blasting this speaker at full volume—watch this first. 🎶🔊 I’ll cover: The exact volume levels where distortion kicks in Real-world listening circumstances (indoors & outdoors) How it compares to the JBL Boombox 3 (and other big Bluetooth speakers) Whether the hype is worth the price If you’re shopping for a portable Bluetooth speaker in 2025, this is a must-watch before you drop serious cash. Spoiler: your ears might thank you. 👂😂 👉 Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and let me know if your Boombox 4 also sounds like it’s auditioning for a metal band at max volume. #JBLBoombox4 #SpeakerReview #BluetoothSpeaker #AudioTest #Distortion JBL Boombox 4: https://geni.us/boombox4 As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Unbeatable combination of deep bass and balance imho for the money. https://geni.us/stormboxblast Harman Kardon Go Plus Play 3: probably the minimum you can pay currently for a sort of hifi sound https://geni.us/goplay3 Brane X: Not cheap but you cant get deeper bass in any speaker this size. https://geni.us/branex Special shout-out Earfun Uboom X: for an all round speaker using Oluvs presets https://geni.us/uboomx Soundcore Boom 2: decent value for a fun party type sound that goes loud with good bass slam https://geni.us/soundcoreboom2 Soundcore Motion Plus Still worth a look, my original world pound for pound champ the Motion Plus can still offer great clarity. https://geni.us/soundcoremotionplus £50 champion: Soundcore Boost V2 Great bass for its size, This is classed as a compact travel speaker but for me is a best buy at around £50. https://geni.us/soundcoreboost JBL Boombox 4: Very loud for size and weight with mighty bass thump. Not cheap. Harsh at louder volumes, lacks upper bass. https://geni.us/boombox4 Good value Speakers I actually listen to: JBL PartyBox Encore: Very small battery but VFM for a deep bass party speaker https://geni.us/jblpartyboxencore Harman Kardon Go+ Play 3: warmer, smoother and bigger sounding than the go play 2, https://geni.us/goplay3 Onyx Studio 5/6 These two speakers are the most deep bass heavy of the entire Onyx Studio series. https://geni.us/onyxstudio6 Bag of Riddim 2: Not for everyone but a lot of fun especially with some reggae music https://geni.us/bagofriddim JBL Boombox 3 WiFi: Crazy price but I much prefer its balance to that of the BB3 bluetooth only edition which has a silly 700hz peak https://geni.us/jblboombox3 W-King X20: Goes louder with more bass than the JBL Boombox 3: https://geni.us/wkingx20 Minirig mk4 2.2 system: The Minirigs are as fiddly as hell to setup and the app is flakey but when you get it right and the full 2.2 system (or 4.2 with the minis) is a fantastic hifi like listen. https://geni.us/minirigs Audio Pro C3: Open and neutral but lacks deep bass, also has WiFi connection. https://geni.us/audioproc3 Marshall Stockwell 2: balanced immersive, not loud. A go-to for me for a relaxing moderate volume listen and quite accurate with bass at 8 https://geni.us/stockwell2 JBL Charge 6: https://geni.us/jblcharge6 Bright in default tuning but can be balanced out with the 7 band app EQ. Mifa WildRod: https://geni.us/wildrod sits between Soundcore boost and Tribit maxsound plus in sound and is about the same size. Beosound A1 1st gen: better than 2nd gen, connectivity and battery issues. Deep bass for small size. Not cheap but one of the best listens for its very small and flat size. https://geni.us/a1gen1 Tribit Maxsound Plus: The most neutral speaker you will find for size and price. Replaced by the less neutral Tribit Xsound Plus 2. https://geni.us/maxsoundplus Harman Kardon Luna is a very compact very warm soundign speaker and is a fun listen for a travel speaker. https://geni.us/harmanluna Bose Soundlink Micro Same size as the Tribit Stormbox Micro but different sound signature. Very warm sounding but falls away at loud volumes (relatively). https://geni.us/bosesoundlinkmicro Full list at https://www.otza.com/speakers/ JBL Boombox 4 speaker review:) Alan Ross Reviews, probably the best reviews in the universe :)
