HH Assures Peaceful, Credible Elections on August 13

President Hakainde Hichilema has assured Zambians that the country will hold peaceful, free, fair, and credible elections on August 13. Speaking during the Seventh‑day Adventist Church Family Quartet Music Fellowship at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, President Hichilema said this year’s general election will be another platform for Zambia to preserve its long‑standing tradition of peaceful polls. The Head of State emphasized that despite isolated acts of lawlessness, the country will remain united throughout the electoral process. He urged campaigns to focus on ideas and solutions that improve citizens’ lives rather than promote division and conflict. President Hichilema stressed that those seeking public office must understand that leadership is about service and placing national interests above personal ambitions. He added that government remains committed to protecting peace and ensuring the election is more peaceful than the 2021 polls. He further noted that God has guided Zambia through past challenges and expressed confidence that the nation will once again emerge united after the election. Meanwhile, Southern Zambia Union Conference President Dr. Vanny Munyumbwe urged political leaders and citizens to promote peace and unity before, during, and after the election. He said political differences should never divide the country, calling on those seeking office to embrace Christ‑like values.
