At last, after being inspired by Dark Souls 1 and 3, Demon's Souls and Bloodborne, Dark Souls 2 gave me a story with more emotional impact than I expected. Within the expansion "Crown of the Ivory King" lies a story of love and sacrifice, telling the tale of The Ivory King's plunge into the depths of chaos to save his dear Queen Alsanna and the rest of the world. Years later, his soul remains in torment without rest, reliving the pain of leaving his love until someone comes to take his soul. Also, outside of the really bittersweet lore, I got to know The King very well in this area of the game, because it is really, REALLY hard. I think I'll leave him and his queen alone from now on.
