Kayak fishing for GIANT Redfish in the Chesapeake bay. Sidescan in the Shallows.

Join me for the first of many episodes of Chasing Chesapeake Gold, a video series capturing my hunt for redfish throughout the beautiful waters of the Chesapeake Bay. In this video, I'm on my kayak using sidescan to locate large schools of giant redfish in shallow water, and they were HUNGRY. Sidescan settings: 450 kHz, High sensitivity (no hard structure to create mirroring) medium-high contrast (this will vary more by unit) Range: Set to 150-200. All of these settings vary based on situation, but if you're fishing a shallow flat with not much on it other than fish, sacrifice your detail for range by using a lower frequency. If you're shallower than 3 feet, you probably wont see much detail past 100-120 feet, but ANY return out there is likely a fish and worth casting at, especially if you're familiar with the area and know there shouldn't be anything out there.
