Chokarou Momoka A promising young storyteller who is rumored to change the history of female rakugo. She became the apprentice of Shunputei Koasa. She began her training as a junior performer under the name Shunputei Poppo. She won the Newcomer Award at the Asakusa Entertainment Awards when she was a futatsume (second-class performer) Shunputei Pikakari☆. She advanced to the finals of the NHK Newcomer Rakugo Awards three times. She has been involved in a number of rakugo activities, including 10 consecutive solo performances, national tours, and overseas performances, which are unusual for a young storyteller, and has appeared on television shows such as Shoten's Young Ogiri and Female Ogiri, as well as being a personality on many radio programs. As an actress, she has appeared in stage performances such as Meijiza's "Furuamericani Sode wa Nurasaji" (starring Daichi Mao), and in films such as "Mimikaki Rendezvous" (starring), which was entered in the Okinawa International Movie Festival. In March 2022, she will be promoted to the long-awaited rank of shin'uchi. Taking this opportunity, she changed her stage name to "Chokarou Momoka" and revived the historic stage name that had been discontinued since the death of Chokarou Maraku VII. Her promotion celebrations held at five vaudeville halls in Tokyo and her first headline performance (Asakusa Engei Hall), which she was selected for just four months after her promotion, the fastest in history, were both sold out. In September, she became the first woman to appear as a regular on the Ogiri segment of "Shoten," attracting attention. In March 2011, she successfully held the first headline performance in the Tokyo metropolitan area, "Momo Gumi" (Asakusa Engei Hall), with all female performers. In October, she held her first headline performance at Suzumoto Engei Hall. In July 2012, she held "Momo no Sanjuichi Ya," a 31-day consecutive performance of original material, at Ikebukuro Engei Hall.
