The BEST Freeze Dried Mongolian Beef & Chicken Fried Rice! Ep463

In today's video, we are putting together a delicious Mongolian Beef Stir-Fry and packaging it with the Chicken Fried Rice we made last week. This is a fantastic, high-quality meal for your long-term food storage, camping, or emergency supplies. We’re testing out a technique called "velveting" on a rump roast to see if we can keep the beef tender even after the freeze-drying and rehydration process. The results were a pleasant surprise! The Recipe: Mongolian Beef Topping The Beef Prep (Velveting): 2 lbs Beef (Top Round or Rump Roast), sliced into 1/8" to 1/4" bite-sized squares. 2 tsp Baking Soda 1/2 cup Water Instructions: Coat beef and refrigerate for 2 hours. Rinse very thoroughly and squeeze out excess water before cooking. The Sauce: 3 tbsp Oyster Sauce 3 tbsp Hoisin Sauce 2 tbsp Soy Sauce (use reduced sodium if preferred) 1/2 tbsp Cornstarch 1/2 tsp White Vinegar 1 tsp Minced Garlic 1/2 tsp Minced Ginger The Stir-Fry: 3 tbsp Vegetable Oil 1 Medium Onion, chopped 2 Bell Peppers (Red and Yellow), chopped 4 cloves Garlic (minced) 1/2 tsp Minced Ginger 8–10 Dried Thai Chili Peppers Freeze Drying & Storage Freeze Dryer Time: 40 hours. Packaging: 7 mil Mylar pouches with 300cc Oxygen Absorbers. Tip: I packaged the beef in an open Ziploc bag inside the Mylar pouch to keep the components separate for a better "plated" presentation later!
