Gran Paradiso (4061m) - North West Face - 23.5.2026

Approach from Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele II (2732m), northeast over the moraine and onto the Laveciau glacier to the base of the NW Face. The face was mostly firm snow. In the upper section where the ice steepens, we moved left onto the rocky rib, a common line that avoids the hardest ice near the top. Exit onto the N ridge and up to the summit at 4061m. Conditions on the day: firm snow low and mid face, ice in the upper ~20% (avoidable via rocks on the left). Hope it helps anyone planning the same route.
