China - Cab Ride in JS Class 2-8-2 (1) December 2016

Following several days of videoing the superb JS Class 2-8-2 locomotives blasting their way out of the opencast mine at Sandaoling in China's north western province of Xinjiang, I decided it was time to have a cab ride on one or two of them. This is a record of my first of those rides. The three man crew were a great team and we managed a pretty good conversation with some good laughs, using my bits of Chinese, their bits of English and a lot of sign language. The driver even stopped the train for me when I indicated that I'd like to video from the trackside. I can't see that happening in Europe !
