The 4" Sweet Spot for BFS Soft Jerkbaits

The Deps Sakamata Shad is already one of the most popular soft jerkbaits in Japan and the U.S. — but today, I wanted to try something different. Instead of spinning gear, I paired the 4 inch Sakamata Shad with a BFS setup, and honestly… it’s just too fun. The 3 inch feels a little too light for BFS, while the 5 inch already works well on standard baitcasting gear. But the 4 inch sits right in the sweet spot at around 4 grams. Easy to cast, easy to control, and perfect for jerkbait-style fishing from the bank. In this video, I’ll show you my BFS setup, hook choice, and why I prefer a slightly heavier hook for better stability in the water. If you enjoy Japanese finesse fishing, bank fishing, BFS, and JDM tackle, this one’s for you. Thanks for watching!
