Here I document the day of my semi final match in the Madrid Squash Open 15k PSA Challenger Tour event against Marek Panáček, with whom I had been sharing a hotel room all week! Marek Panáček is a 23-year-old Czech professional squash player from Uherské Hradiště who has been regarded as one of the Czech Republic's top talents since his junior years. He turned professional in 2018 and has represented the Czech Republic internationally while competing regularly on the PSA World Tour. Some highlights of his career include: 🇨🇿 Former top Czech junior with multiple national and international junior titles. 🏆 Winner of the 2022 PSA Ostrava Open, his first PSA title. 📈 Reached a career-high world ranking of No. 114 (January 2023). As of mid-2026 he is ranked around No. 143 in the world. 💥 Known for producing big upsets, including defeating former World No. 17 Adrian Waller at the 2026 Hamburg Open despite being a heavy underdog. What is the Madrid Squash Open? The 2026 Madrid Squash Open is a PSA Challenger 15 tournament from 23–27 June 2026 at the Club de Squash Tres Cantos in Madrid, Spain. It marks the first men's PSA World Tour event to be staged in Madrid and features a 24-player main draw with competitors from around the world. The event is being played on Spain's only transportable all-glass squash court, creating a professional arena for spectators and live streaming. As part of the PSA Challenger Series, it offers valuable world ranking points and prize money, attracting a strong international field of established professionals and rising talents.
