Karina Miotto is a communicator and an environmental journalist. She enjoys living in different places (she lived in the US, Spain and Italy) and, in Brazil, she is happy to say that that, besides São Paulo, her hometown, she lived for five years in Amazônia, between Manaus and Belém, "to feel the forest and learn from her". In Amazonian territory she worked for national and international NGOs and for two years she was editor for ((o)) eco site. Nowadays she stays in Rio de Janeiro everything that makes her happy in a city: a job that speaks to her ideals, surrounding nature, cycle paths, sea and the wonderful group of Gaia Education, a course based on the sustainability of four pillars: social, economic, ecological and world view -- "the definition of what is to be sustainable must be holistic in order to complete". Karina plunged into TEDx's world by bringing to Belém do Pará the TEDxVer-o-Peso, in 2011, and she is also part TED Global's community. She is proactive, idealist, activist, change agent, people connector, environmentalist, idea generator and world traveler. "Experiences collector" was one of the best definitions that she has heard about herself Intuition as the starting point: One day, Karina questioned herself why she was a journalist. And she found out, in nature's arms, that the ideal behind her profession was working for the life in the planet. Afterwards she moved to Amazônia, where she lived for five years. She witnessed beauty and also a lot of pain, what made her almost lose faith on mankind -- however, as faith doesn't usually fail, she end up in Rio de Janeiro, where she has renovated her way of feel and think. Today, she is dedicated to facilitate people's reconnection with nature, with themselves and with their own life purpose as well. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. Presenciou beleza, mas também muita dor, o que quase a fez perder a fé na humanidade - mas como a fé não costuma falhar, foi parar no Rio de Janeiro, onde tem renovado sua maneira de sentir e de pensar. Hoje, dedica-se a facilitar a reconexão das pessoas com a natureza, com elas mesmas e também com seus propósitos de vida.
