Is the Hinowa 2010 the Best Compact Spider Lift? Honest Review
Full, hands-on operator review of the HINOWA Light Lift 20.10 (often referred to as the “HINOWA 2010”) — the compact spider lift that seems to have a big reputation in the access world, and for good reason. In this video I’m out in Lincolnshire at St Vincent’s Church with Samuel, who’s brought his 20.10 along so I can properly put it through its paces. I first saw this machine at Vertikal Days, and ever since then people have been telling me, “Danny — you need to take a proper look at the HINOWA 2010.” So, that’s exactly what we’re doing here: a real-world, operator-focused review based on actual seat time. What we cover in the review Working envelope & performance: approx. 20.15m working height, 9.7m outreach, and around 8.15m up-and-over clearance Stability at full reach: how it feels when you’re stretched right out (and whether the base stays planted) Controls & usability: simple, intuitive operation that suits experienced operators and newer lads alike Setup and access: narrow tracking mode (sub-800mm), compact footprint, and how practical it is on tight sites Build quality: steelwork, tracks, general “is this built to last?” feel Pros I found Extremely easy and forgiving to operate Fast tracking and quick boom movements (with the option to slow down for precision work) Impressive stability at maximum outreach Handy details like LED outrigger lights for dark mornings and winter work Tracks retract with a simple button press for tight access jobs Cons / quirks worth knowing Multi-function movements can feel a bit stop-start/electronic compared to fully hydraulic machines Outriggers lower one at a time, making setup slower than it needs to be Remote is tethered (less freedom/visibility when tracking) Needs more straps to secure properly on the trailer than my 1890 Pro Outrigger pads aren’t quick-release (Allen key needed) Some exposed hose routing risk around trees/branches The onboard water hose isn’t rated for high-pressure jet washing Fuel filler position is a bit awkward without repositioning or using a funnel Final verdict Overall, I’ve come away really impressed. The HINOWA 2010 / Light Lift 20.10 feels like a seriously capable, well-built spider lift with excellent outreach, outstanding stability, and user-friendly controls. It has a few niggles, but none of them take away from what it does best — getting you where you need to be, safely, on tight and tricky access sites. Big thanks to Samuel for bringing the machine down and letting me have a proper play on it.
