¿Cuál es tu río? | Diego Garcia | TEDxLaCastellana

Everyone, without exception, is connected to a body of water, to a river. Which is your river? Diego García Bejarano, an environmental engineer specializing in Natural Resource Management, with a Master's degree in Public Policy and Government, highlights the intrinsic relationship we have with water. He has managed social processes for the defense of watersheds in Colombia, and as a river traveler, he shares experiences that have contributed to his knowledge, sensitivity, and purpose in life. From his journeys along various rivers in the country, in unexplored and exotic locations, large urban centers, or immersed in beautiful natural landscapes, he emphasizes a common factor: everyone on the planet, without exception, is part of a watershed, and this relationship can help us understand ourselves as a culture within a territory. An Environmental and Sanitary Engineer, he has built his professional career serving the ecosystems vital to the city. He served as a Bogotá City Councilor from 2012 to 2016. One of his main achievements was the declaration of the Tunjo and Isla Wetlands Complex in the Tunjuelo River Basin. He also held the position of Executive Director of the Special Planning Administrative Region (RAPE) Central Region from 2016 to 2018. He has a background in environmental activism, working with social organizations in the southern districts of the city, and is the founder of the SIE Environmental Corporation. From a young age, he has been known for developing strategies that foster new collective visions. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
