Discover how a circus performer and a radio singer exceeded all expectations. To understand this journey, let's go back to the origins of Francisco dos Santos, Cascatinha. Born in the interior of São Paulo state, in Araraquara, he had a tough childhood after losing his father at the age of five. He worked hard in the fields, but fate led him to art. It was singing and playing drums in a traveling circus that he met the singer Chopp, forming his first duo and adopting the name inspired by a famous beer brand. On the other side, we meet Ana Eufrosina, the beloved Inhana. Of humble origin in the city of Araras, she already shone brightly. With an impressive vocal technique from a very young age, she performed on local radio stations with her brothers and was affectionately called "The Voice of Araras." With her life seemingly mapped out and her wedding planned, her path was about to change drastically. The great encounter happened in 1941, when Cascatinha's circus arrived in Araras. When using the loudspeakers in the main square to announce the show, his voice echoed and caught Inhana's attention. The impact was so overwhelming that, breaking through all barriers and facing the resistance of her family, the singer broke off her engagement and married the circus performer in just five months. Knowing that the countryside was too small for so much talent, the couple joined forces with their former partner Chopp, forming the Trio Esmeralda, and bravely set off for the country's capital at the time: Rio de Janeiro. Life in the big city was not easy, but persistence and love for music kept them firm in their purpose. The big turning point came thanks to the legendary singer Raul Torres, who was impressed by the duo's talent and practically forced a hurried record label executive to listen to them. The impromptu audition resulted in a contract signed on the spot! Brazil finally got to know the pure and captivating talent of "Os Sabiás do Sertão" (The Nightingales of the Sertão). But did you know that their greatest classics were almost shelved? The record label executives didn't believe that the rhythm of Paraguayan guaranias would be a hit. Contrary to all predictions, they recorded the timeless "Índia" and "Meu Primeiro Amor" (My First Love), reaching the impressive mark of more than three million records sold and establishing Inhana as one of the most perfect voices in Brazil. Away from fame, the couple lived a private life until, after 40 years of marriage, Inhana passed away prematurely at the age of 58. Cascatinha honored the duo's legacy for another 15 years until he passed away, curiously, a victim of the same cause: cardiac arrest.
