The Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), located in the temple city of Jammu, in the Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory is a national center in the area of natural product chemistry and drug discovery. It is part of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), under the Ministry of Science & Technology, which is a network of national laboratories and research centers in India. This institute has a history in pre-independence India. Started in 1941 as a local research laboratory, it rose to the level of a national institute and is currently one of the top-notch biological research facilities in the country. The institute is playing a very crucial role in the development and promotion of herbal products and medicines in India. Thus, promoting the idea of sustainability in health care and disease prevention. The institute has made significant contributions to the field of herbal and medicinal plants, including the discovery of new drugs, development of new technologies for the extraction and purification of active compounds, and the identification of novel bioactive molecules.
