A 55 year old former Olympic Airways 737-200 still resting where she made her final flight in 1991! A classic aircraft with so much history that has now been sitting in the scrapyard for 33 years, longer than she ever flew. And is now the oldest plane here at Maxton and has been resting here longer than any of the other 8 aircraft. Hopefully this old bird will have a good future ahead and eventually be restored. As mentioned in the video, a campaign called “ Bring Our Birds Home” (link posted below) is working on purchasing this aircraft from the airport and bringing back to its original home in New Zealand! https://www.bringourbirdshome.co.nz/ There haven’t been many updates lately or anything mentioned about the status of saving this 737.
