Extrait du discours du Président OUATTARA lors de la cérémonie de célébration de la Fête du Travail

Favorable economic conditions also allowed us to better compensate our farming parents, raising the price of cocoa to 1,100 FCFA in October 2015. The minimum wage practically doubled, increasing from 36,000 FCFA to 60,000 FCFA per month. After 25 years of being frozen, civil servants saw their salaries unfrozen in 2014. Health technical staff saw an increase in their average monthly salary, which rose from 222,000 FCFA in 2011 to 375,000 FCFA in 2016. The average monthly salary of health managers increased from 450,000 FCFA in 2011 to 775,000 FCFA in 2016. Primary school teachers saw their average monthly salary increase from 264,000 FCFA in 2011 to 390,000 FCFA. Secondary school teachers' salaries increased from 419,000 FCFA to 511,000 FCFA in 2016. These are the highest salaries in the entire sub-region. At the university level, the average monthly salary rose from 798,000 FCFA in 2011 to 1,100,000 FCFA in 2016. To date, more than 8.5 billion FCFA has been allocated to our dynamic women for the creation of income-generating activities through the Women's Support Fund of Côte d'Ivoire (FAFCI), initiated by the First Lady; in total, more than 115,000 women across the country have benefited from this funding. As you can see, whenever economic conditions allowed, the State redistributed the wealth generated in the form of public goods, infrastructure, salary increases, and so on. (Whether it be for farmers with the increase in producer prices for cocoa, coffee, cashew nuts, and cotton; in the private sector with the increase in the minimum wage from 36,000 CFA francs to 60,000 CFA francs; for civil servants with salary increases; or for women with the establishment of the Women's Support Fund of Côte d'Ivoire). The redistribution of wealth is very important to me. I am committed to ensuring that the most disadvantaged and workers, in particular, are the primary beneficiaries of the results of economic growth. I can assure you that we will continue to do so. All these achievements were possible because we were able to preserve the social stability necessary for wealth creation. All these achievements were made possible thanks to our daily dedication to work and our ambition to make Côte d'Ivoire an emerging country by 2020.
