Kelly Slater in INNERSECTION (The Momentum Files)

At the end of Innersection's first year, the voting came down to an all-but-unknown Maui surfer Matt Meola versus the GOAT Kelly Slater. David versus Goliath, with $100,000 on the line. Luckily it wasn't our decision to make, and all we had to do was count the votes...which we tallying onto the website up til the day of the announcement. Meola won, but Slater got the final section of the movie (traditionally, the best section) which was a victory of sorts, as well). This being the first year of the contest, no one knew quite what to submit, but if you analyze Kelly's submission, it manages to tick every box in his surfing vocabulary, from technical tuberides to big waves to combos to airs... he does it all.
