A stolen car chase through Melbourne's north reached speeds of 120km/h before the driver crashed in Preston and attempted to steal a Good Samaritan's vehicle. The 46-year-old Altona man was arrested at the scene along with his 30-year-old female passenger. The Victorian state government is accused of using underhanded tactics in negotiations with teachers, sending a new pay offer directly to all teachers and angering union leaders. A Colac pensioner, Brian James Hall, will face trial for the alleged murder of Brendan Breen, who vanished in 2012. Hall has pleaded not guilty and will appear before the Supreme Court next month.
