How My Mule Learned to Lead a Pack String in 3 Days

We went to an advanced pack clinic taught by Trent Peterson, owner of The Wild In Us. We learned all kinds of things—from new hitches to mantying loads—and got to pack our own equines and pony a string off of them. Clyde, my john mule, has always been quirky about ponying new equines, and I was curious how he would do. At first, it was rough going… but once he got a little experience under his belt, he really stepped up. By the end of the 3 days, Clyde turned into a confident leader. We even led a string of five fully packed equines down the trail with ease. It was an amazing experience, and Clyde made some big changes in a short amount of time.
