Making huge oars by hand
Here I made 11 foot oars using what felt like every tool I had. They are similar to the Pete Culler style oar. They have a long loom, a heavy counterbalance, and a narrow wing shaped blade. These are fir, but spruce would be better/lighter. And they do propel the wooden dinghy with ease. Such a fun woodworking project. visit www.shipwrightskills.com for more information.
