As legend has it, the travel cutlery does indeed originate from the Saxon royal family. However, it didn't belong to King Augustus the Strong, as the saleswoman thought, but to King Albert of Saxony. He was a descendant of Augustus the Strong and reigned from 1873 to 1902. The travel cutlery dates from his time as Crown Prince, as can be seen from the monogram beneath a princely crown. The 12-lot silver cutlery set with mercury gilding features the Dresden city coat of arms, the maker's mark of the Saxon court purveyor Karl Robert Künzel, the cipher A beneath the princely crown, and the year 1842. The six-piece set consists of a double-sided egg cup, knife, fork, spoon, marrow spoon, and a double spice box. The asking price of €400 is increased tenfold in the expert's report.
