2000 Mercruiser 7.4L MPI L29 Engine Overhaul
This 454 out of a 2000 39' Carver had an untimely demise when the oil filter was double gasketed and wasn't caught. The engine tied up while on plane. The block was not repairable as it spun #2 main bad enough to crack the block around the oil feed hole. The crankshaft was straightened and machined .010 on the rods and .020 on the mains. A brand new GM block was sourced and used for the build. Connecting rods were reconditioned and resized using ARP bolts. Cylinder heads were reconditioned, injectors were flow tested as well. New pistons, bearings, rings and gaskets also were used. We test ran the engine for an hour before the marina picked it up.
