Washington Highway 410 over Chinook Pass via dash cam 091714

Of the 5 highway pass crossings over the Washington Cascade Range - US 2 Stevens Pass, Interstate 90 Snoqualmie Pass, US 12 White Pass, SR 20 Rainy & Washington Passes and SR 410 Cayuse and Chinook Passes - my personal favorite pass crossing is Chinook Pass! Maybe because of it's location - next to Mt. Rainier - or it's sudden up and over the summit - I just love this crossing! Closed during the winter (as is SR 20), I decided to start and finish this video at the gates on each side where the road closes for the season. Most of SR 123 is closed in Mt. Rainier National Park during the winter as well. It is always worth the drive over this summit, and even more spectaular right after the highway is opened over Chinook Pass after being plowed after a heavy snow pack season, with high walls of snowpack along the sides of the highway.
