The Storm by Don Francisco
I loved this song many years ago and lost the tape. (Yes, that's how long ago it was; it was on a cassette tape.) I later couldn't remember the name of the song or the artist because I'm old now. But I emailed Don Francisco and asked him, "Didn't you record a song once with the lyrics 'Lash us all with Your love to the mast'?" He wrote back and said, "Nope. Wasn't me." I couldn't accept that. (I love you Don, but it would appear I'm not the only one who's old, ha.) I kept digging and resorted to buying old vinyl until I finally came up with it. "The Storm" from Don Francisco's album "Holiness". It now has a home on the Internet. LYRICS: The thunder crashed, the maelstrom raged Like a beast that tries to burst its cage. The midnight seemed the same as morn. All the ropes had snapped and the sails were torn. Tempest above, the deep below; I was afraid to hope. I didn't know If you were still alive or been washed away, Or if even the Captain had chosen to stay. The lifeboats gone, we pitched and reeled But the Captain stayed behind the wheel And kept the bows against the wind And the world grew calm. Now it wasn't by strength 'til the storm was done That I met you there in the shining sun, But I prayed the Captain 'til the storm be past, Lash us both with Your love to the mast. Lash us all with Your love to the mast.
