Hasselblad X2D II + Fuji GFX Lenses | Boryoza GF-HX Lens Adapter | Who Needs This?
This video here is different than my usual videos. It is an experimental proof of concept video for a very special lens adapter, namely, the Boryoza GF-HX adapter which enables shooting Fuji GFX lenses on the Hasselblad X2D II. The lens adapter also supports autofocus, but only AF-S and not AF-C because continuous autofocus AF-C cannot be used together with electronic shutter. AF-C is automatically deactivated by the camera the moment in time you switch into electronic shutter mode. But what has a lens adapter to do with electronic shutter? Well, the Hasselblad-X system is a leaf shutter system so the mechanical shutter is a leaf shutter sitting in the lens, not the camera body. But Fuji GFX lenses have no built-in leaf shutter because Fuji GFX cameras rely on a focal plane shutter sitting in the camera body so the only way to shoot Fuji GFX lenses on the Hasselblad X2D II with the Boryoza GF-HX lens adapter is via electronic shutter. The video shows and explains everything you need to know about the Boryoza lens adapter. I explain the lens adapter in detail and show proof of concept by demonstrating how autofocus and subject detection works for a bunch of Fuji GFX lenses mounted to the X2D II via the Boryoza GF-HX adapter. Earlier in the video I also explain how firmware updates work with the included 4-pin-to-USB-A cable. I also stimulate a discussion on “Who actually needs such a lens adapter” where I invite everyone to participate in the comment section below the video. In my own humble opinion use cases for this lens adapter are rather limited but in the video I construct three very interesting use cases where application of the adapter perfectly makes sense. REMARK: @05:40 you need another step in-between which I think I did not mention. On Mac, use for instance the app "The Unarchiver" to extract what's inside the firmware package. Then you get a new folder on Mac with a Readme file and the true firmware file called "BORYOZA_GF2X2D_PUB_V203.bin". This is the file you need to have on the adapter's drive before unmounting it. It's the firmware file. See also this related video on my channel: Fuji GFX100 II + Fuji GF 500mm - Bird, Wildlife & Landscape Lens • Fuji GFX100 II + Fuji GF 500mm - Bird, Wil...
