Enabling Circular procurement: policy updates and value chain collaboration

This training explored how public procurement can accelerate the transition to a circular economy, bringing together policy, project, and practitioner perspectives. Topics covered: • Upcoming revision of the EU Public Procurement Directives and the shift towards quality- and sustainability-based procurement • Insights from the Interreg North-West Europe Circular Shift project on circular procurement and value chain collaboration • A real-life case study on circular textile procurement involving five German municipalities • Practical challenges and lessons learned from implementing circular procurement in practice The session also included a Q&A on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), Life Cycle Costing (LCC), value chain collaboration, engagement of non-public actors, and potential synergies between Circular Shift and ProcuraMED.
