How to create bolt preload with Hypermesh and Abaqus
In this video Real FEA shows you how to model bolt pretension in a flange CAD. Pre-processing is done with Hypermesh and run and visualised with Abaqus. The final stress result is compared against the analytical result. To model the preloading, bar (B31 type) and Kinematic Couplings elements are used which will save a lot of computational time.
