🔪⚡ How I Made a Knife and Etched a Design Using Electrochemical Etching — The Full Process from Start to Finish In this video, I show you from scratch how I turned an ordinary blade into a true piece of craftsmanship: from grinding and artistically etching a pattern to making a new wooden handle and the final sharpening. If you're into handmade knives, metal engraving, and woodworking — get comfortable! 👇 ▎🛠️ What I Did in This Video (Step by Step) • 🔧 Ground the knife down to a perfectly even surface • 🎨 Coated the blade with lacquer and painted it — this is the base for the future design • 🖨️ Created and printed my own design • ✏️ Transferred the design onto the knife using tracing paper • 🪛 Scraped away the first layer of the design • ⚡ Etched the design using electrochemical etching • 🪛 Scraped away the next layer of the design • 🧂 Etched it using salt water and electricity • 💧 Washed off the paint, revealing a crisp pattern • 🔨 Used an impact engraver to add shading so the design became three-dimensional ▎🪵 Making a New Knife Handle • 🔩 Drilled out the rivets from the old handle • ✋ Removed the handle from the knife • 🪚 Cut wooden blanks for the new handle • 🌀 Soaked the blanks in stabilizing compound inside a vacuum chamber • 🌡️ Heated the blanks to 100 °C so the compound would polymerize • 🧷 Glued the stabilized blanks to the knife • 🔩 Drilled holes for the brass rivets • 🪑 Gave the handle its final shape ▎✨ Final Touches • 🔪 Sharpened the blade to a razor's edge • ⚗️ Applied ferric chloride to darken the blade • 💎 Polished the blade so the design stood out vividly • 🖤 Applied black oil paint to the blade for contrast • 🛢️ Applied oil to the blade and handle for protection and beauty ▎💬 Enjoyed the Video?
