Lotte World Aquarium Hà Nội is currently the largest and most modern indoor aquarium in Hanoi. It is located on the B1 and B2 basement floors of Lotte Mall West Lake Hanoi, a brand-new shopping landmark in the Tay Ho District. In recent years, it has become a highly popular spot for family trips and Instagram-worthy photos when traveling to Hanoi. The aquarium is built directly inside Lotte Mall. The design of the aquarium is inspired by the folklore of "Cá Ông" (the Whale God), the guardian deity of Vietnam's coastal fishermen. The entire tour route is about 650 meters long, perfectly blending Vietnam's natural landscapes (such as high mountain lakes, terraced fields, tropical rainforests, and mangroves) with marine ecology along the way. For instance, the freshwater area specially simulates the Mekong River basin, which boasts extremely high biodiversity. The aquarium covers an area of over 9,000 square meters and features 67 display tanks. Its biggest highlight is the main tank (Ocean Square), equipped with a giant curved acrylic panel that is 18 meters wide and 5.8 meters high. Walking through the 90-meter-long deep-sea underwater tunnel, you can look up at sharks and giant rays swimming gracefully overhead, providing an incredibly immersive experience. The facility houses more than 400 species and over 31,000 marine and freshwater creatures. In addition to common colorful tropical fish, jellyfish, and sea turtles, it has successfully bred the first batch of California sea lions born locally in Vietnam, and it also keeps the rarely seen giant Pirarucu along with various rare fish species. Mermaid Show: Divers transform into beautiful mermaids, dancing with schools of fish in the main tank, making it the most popular performance in the aquarium.
