I’ve already showed you several types of the collars, and today I’ll show you the shawl ones. As always, I’ll be using my basic pattern. I don’t need to measure anything trying to guess if it would fit me or not. I’ll tell you what you should pay your attention to. When you move a tuck, you should straighten a shoulder. You’ll understand how much to cut when you start working. I’m showing you the technique. I’ll draw the centerfront. You should always know where it is. I’ll also add 2,5 cm for an allowance. It’s autumn now, so I’d like to close the neck a bit. The band collar will cover your neck and then turn into an opened-neck collar. I’ll show you everything. I’ll cut the item out, tack and try on a dummy. I like the collars, so I’ll show you different types of them. Make the collar of any form — make it bigger or smaller, wider or narrower. You should practice and decide what you like more. I usually throw the patterns away. Even if I’m planning to make the same item again – maybe I’ll decide to open the neckline more, or to change something else. When I finish tacking, I’ll try it on. Practice, and you won’t have any questions and problems. I’ve drawn everything by sight. If you see that some places don’t fit, you can change them a bit. You can change a collar however you like – make it wider, make this place round, make the angles smooth. Of course it’s much easier to make the items without collars, but we should look good. If you want, for example, to put a top on underneath, you can make the first button lower. It will also look really good.
