At dawn they carry out what is in their power. 2 They covet fields and seize them violently, and houses and take them. They oppress the master and his house, the owner and his possessions. 3 This is what the Lord says: “Behold, I intend to send upon this wicked generation a disaster from which you will not escape; you will not be able to walk with your heads held high, for those will be disastrous times. 4 On that day you will be the subject of an allegory, of a sad song that says: 'We have been utterly devastated; the portion of my people that has passed to another will not be restored to them; our fields are divided among the unfaithful.' 5 Therefore, you will not have anyone in the assembly of the Lord to measure with a cord the portions assigned by lot.” The word of the Lord.
